Lotto Winner Missing For Week: Police Asking For Help From Public

DETROIT (WWJ) - Could a recent lottery win be the cause of an elderly man's disappearance?

Arthur Neal Jr, 86, was last seen at his home on Trinity street in Detroit on Dec. 20.

Neal is approximately, 5 feet 7 inches and weighs 160 pounds.  His family describe him as having a medium complexion, gray hair, with a full beard and mustache.

He's driving a black, 1998, Cadillac Deville, with a Michigan plate of BMZ -7786.

A granddaughter, Lawanda Marshall, says he wouldn't have missed Christmas with his family. She says he recently won approximately $20,000 in a lottery game but wouldn't suddenly leave town because of it.

Marshall tells WWJ's Sandra McNeill that she was concerned with how many people knew he had recently won money.

"It bothers me greatly because I don't think that's the type of information that should have seeped out - if that was the case - especially that neighborhood in which he was staying and reside," said Marshall.

She says that his home was in disarray and a door was left ajar.

Marshall says Neal still does masonry work despite his age.

Anyone with information on Mr.Neal's whereabouts is asked to please call Detroit Police at (313) 596-5640.
