Bashara Handyman Joe Gentz Returns To Court After Refusing To Testify

DETROIT (AP) — A handyman who strangled a suburban Detroit woman is returning to court after refusing to testify at the trial of the victim's husband.

Joe Gentz accepted a generous plea deal and was sentenced to at least 17 years in prison for the death of Jane Bashara. But his refusal to testify at the trial of Bob Bashara could put him in hot water.

Gentz is back in court Friday.

Bob Bashara was recently convicted of arranging Jane Bashara's death. Gentz has said he was coerced by Bashara to strangle his wife at their Grosse Pointe Park home in 2012.

Prosecutors said Bashara wanted his wife out of the way so he could have a life of bondage and domination with women who called him "Master Bob."
