Mom Gets At Least 60 Years For Role In Sex Abuse Of 3-Year-Old Daughter

JACKSON (WWJ/AP) - A 37-year-old Jackson County mother will spend at least 60 years in jail for her role in the sexual assault of her 3-year-old daughter.

The woman was convicted in November of five counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct. She was sentenced Wednesday to 60 to 160 years in prison.

The woman is accused of helping her husband sexually assault their daughter in at least three separate incidents over a six month period from October 2012 to May 2013. The judge told the woman she had multiple chances to protect her child, who's now 5, from the abuse.

"You sat there time after time after time and allowed your husband to rape your little girl," Judge John G. McBain told the woman, The Jackson Citizen Patriot reported. "Most parents would take a bullet, they would get hit by a car themselves pushing the child out of the way but you did what you did to use your child as a sex toy."

The woman's husband was also sentenced to at least 60 years. He testified against his wife and said she was aware of and sometimes assisted in the abuse.
