Autopsy Shows Wayne State Student Accidentally Drowned In CMU Campus Pond

MOUNT PLEASANT (WWJ/AP) - An autopsy has determined an 18-year-old man found dead in a pond on a Mount Pleasant college campus accidentally drowned.

Michael Hartnett of Dearborn Heights was found by police on Oct. 5 after his father reported him missing. His body was recovered later that day from a pond on the Central Michigan University campus near Park Library .

Isabella County Prosecutor Risa Hunt-Scully announced Monday that no charges will be filed in the case.

Hartnett, an insulin-dependent diabetic, was a student at Wayne State University. He was visiting friends at Central Michigan University when the incident occurred.
