Woman's Body, Severely Beaten Found Near Ecorse River

DEARBORN HEIGHTS (WWJ) - A woman's body was discovered in a field overnight in Dearborn Heights and police are now searching for the person or persons who killed her.

Investigators are hoping to learn more from evidence collected at the scene of the badly beaten, murdered woman reports WWJ's Ron Dewey.

Police Chief Lee Gavin says investigators used fingerprints to identify the woman, who had no identification on her. Gavin said that the woman was in her mid-40s, but won't identifyher, saying police are notifying her family.

Gavin says investigators "are assuming the body was dropped off" at the site after the woman was killed elsewhere.

The woman's body was wrapped in a bed sheet and was left along Powers and John Daly roads not far from the Ecorse River.

If you have any information about who this woman may be or any of the surrounding circumstances you are asked to call police or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
