4 In Custody After Woman's Battered, Naked Body Found Dumped Along Road

WESTLAND (WWJ/AP) - Four men have been arrested in connection with the death of a woman whose badly beaten, naked body was found dumped along a road in Dearborn Heights.

Investigators used fingerprints to identify the woman, who is in her mid-40s. She was found around 1 a.m. Monday along Powers and John Daly roads, not far from the Ecorse River.

Dearborn Heights Police Chief Lee Gavin said the woman was beaten beyond recognition, with bruising and scrapes covering her face. Her name has not yet been released. An autopsy is expected to determine a cause of death.

Westland police Sgt. Robert Wilkie said the men were taken into custody on Monday and that more people may be involved.

Investigators believe the woman might have been killed in Westland and then dropped in Dearborn Heights.

The suspects' names were not immediately released.
