Ohio Bakery Recalls Donuts With Twix Topping Over Undeclared Allergens

DETROIT (WWJ) - An Ohio bakery is recalling some of its pastry products that were sold in Michigan due to an undeclared allergen warning.

Northern Tier Bakery is recalling its Twix Bismarck doughnuts -- white donuts topped with pieces of chopped Twix candy bar -- because the Twix topping, which was sourced from a third-party, may contain undeclared peanuts and eggs.

The donuts were sold in Michigan, Minnesota, North Dakota, and Florida.

People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to peanuts and eggs run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product. The company says no illnesses have been linked to the issue.

The recall was initiated after peanut allergen was discovered in the chopped Twix product distributed to Northern Tier Bakery by a third party in packaging that did not reveal the presence of peanuts.

Consumers who have purchased a Twix Bismarck donut are urged to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers may call 1-855-468-6972 with any questions.
