Police Search For Suspects Who Abducted Farmington Hills Woman From Apartment

FARMINGTON HILLS (WWJ) - A Farmington Hills woman is hospitalized after she was allegedly abducted from her apartment building and now, police are searching for the suspects.

The situation unfolded around 11 p.m. Wednesday as the 40-year-old woman was returning to the Fairmont Park Apartments Homes, near 9 Mile and Drake roads.

The woman entered the building and was in a lower-level stairwell where police say she was assaulted and abducted by a man and a woman. The suspects allegedly forced the woman into her car and fled the scene.

At some point, the woman was able to escape and the suspects made away in her vehicle. She is now recovering at a local hospital in stable condition, receiving treatment for injuries to her head.

Police say finding the woman's vehicle is key to solving this case because they don't know the suspects' identities. Investigators are asking the public to keep their eyes peeled for a white 2010 Honda Crosstour with Michigan license place "2KV F42."

Reporting live from the scene, WWJ's Mike Campbell said vehicles coming and going from the apartment complex must pass through a security gate that records video of the passing vehicle. Police are now reviewing that security footage.

Investigators have not yet said if the woman knew the suspects or if this was a random attack.

Aaron Barry said he lives in the building where the crime took place.

"I don't know what happened. I just came in this morning and seen blood all over the floor and blood on the railing," he said.

Barry said the complex might have security gates, but he's not sure how effective they are.

"It's not good security because people bust down these gates all the time. So if they want to get in, they can get in and if they want to get out, they can get out," he said.

The complex is not surrounded by a fence, so anyone can freely walk up to the buildings.

The suspects are described as an African-American man and woman in their early 20s, both about 5'5" to 5'7" tall.

Anyone who might see the woman's vehicle or who has any information on the case is urged to contact their local police department or Farmington Hills police at 248-871-2600.

HEAT, Help Eliminate Auto Theft, is offering a $2,000 reward for information leading to the carjackers. Tips can be submitted by calling 1-800-242-HEAT.
