Job And Internship Fair Monday At Wixom Middle School

WIXOM (WWJ) - Ready to make that next big career move?

A fair offering both job and internship opportunities will be held at a Wixom Middle School Monday afternoon.

Younger students will hear from Kesto, R-Commerce Township, state Sen. Mike Kowall, R-White Lake, other local elected officials and area business representatives, and parents and older students who are seeking intern opportunities or jobs are encouraged to bring resumes and school transcripts and be prepared to interview for local jobs.

Kesto said the hope is to introduces attendees with area businesses looking to hire.

"These young people should be commended for the hard work they are doing to open new opportunities for members of the community who are seeking a brighter future," Kesto said. "They are also laying the groundwork for their own success as they become young adults and enter the job market."

Kesto told WWJ Newsradio 950 it's sometimes a challenge for students just getting out of school to get a job; and a big part of that is connecting young people to jobs.

"And them knowing where the jobs are... that's why these job fairs are important," Kesto said. "Because if you're a business owner you don't know where to look to find people to hire; and if you're a job-seeker, sometimes it's difficult to know who to go to who's looking for a job."

"But we've seen tremendous growth, in my area and across the state," he added. "So let's do a better job connecting the business leaders and the job seekers together."

The job and intern fair runs from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Admission is free.

The school is located at 1760 Charms Road in Wixom.
