CLARKSTON (WWJ) – The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office has arrested of two females suspects involved in a rash of larcenies at local businesses in Independence Township in recent weeks.
Twenty-nine-year-old Ashley Sandstrom of Lapeer and 42-year-old Velretta Leak of Pontiac entered several stores in Clarkston – stealing wallets from employees in mid-January.READ MORE: Karen Carter, and Others Metro Detroiters Chipped In To Help Salvation Army’s Bed and Bread Radiothon
On Monday, both Sandstorm and Leak were taken into custody by the Lapeer County Sheriff’s Department after employees at a carpet store told authorities there were two women acting suspicious.READ MORE: Granholm Confirmed By Senate To Be Next Energy Secretary
Sandstrom and Leak were arraigned Thursday in District Court and were charged with two counts of larceny in a building, which carries a sentence of up to 4 years in prison per count.MORE NEWS: South Haven And Other Michigan Beaches Look To Hire Lifeguards To Stop Accidental Drownings
Sandstrom is being held on $25,000 bond, while Leak received a $50,000 bond.
