'Drunk Dialing' 911 More Than 100 Times Finally Gets Man A Response: Arrest

KINGSLEY, Mich. (WWJ/AP) - Authorities say a northern Michigan man confessed he was drunk and bored when he called 911 more than 100 times in the span of about a month.

The 25-year-old from the Grand Traverse County community of Kingsley was arrested Thursday evening at his mobile home after calling 911 to request help, saying he had been injured.

Sheriff's deputies searched the man's home and found about a half-dozen phones and a hand-held police scanner. Police say the man utilized the phones to call 911 a total of 106 times from Jan. 11 to Feb. 2.

Capt. Randy Fewless said the man never spoke to operators until his last call, but had started "upping the ante" by "laboring his breathing" in earlier calls when the police didn't come to his home.

"He indicated his justification was 'drunken boredom,'" Fewless told The Traverse City Record-Eagle.

It's not clear what charges the man might face.
