Girl Scout Cookies Go On Sale This Week In Metro Detroit

DETROIT (WWJ) - Girl Scout cookies are hitting the streets just in time for Valentine's Day.

Girl Scouts across metro Detroit will start selling their cookies from pop-up booths on Friday, Feb. 13. Don't wait too long to scoop up your favorite cookies though, the booths will only be up for six weeks.

"Our cookies are available just in time for customers to get the flavors they love, and to support Girl Scouting and our mission to build girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place," Amanda Kremer, director of product sales, said in a statement. "Plus, who wouldn't love to get a box of Girl Scout cookies along with their Valentine's Day chocolates and flowers?"

In addition to their traditional methods, the Girl Scouts are selling cookies online this year though personalized websites and a mobile app.

By participating in the cookie sale, girls learn five key life skills including decision-making, money management, goal setting, people skills, and business ethics. Girls use their earnings for camping, community service projects, and other activities.

Two new cookie flavors to love

Girl Scouts in southeastern Michigan will be selling two new cookie flavors: Rah Rah Raisins and Toffee-tastic.

Rah Rah Raisins is a crispy oatmeal cookie loaded with plump raisins and Greek yogurt-flavored chunks. Toffee-tastic is a rich, buttery gluten-free cookie packed with flavorful toffee bits.

The two new varieties join the traditional favorites Trefoils, Thin Mints, Tagalongs, Samoas, Do-si-Dos, and Savannah Smiles. All cookie varieties, with the exception of Toffee-Tastics, are $4.00 per box. The gluten-free cookie is $5.00 per box.
