Daughter Caught Impersonating Mother As Substitute Teacher; Both In Custody

WATERFORD (WWJ) -- A sub for a teacher's sub? Waterford Police are holding a woman and her daughter who tried to fill in as a substitute teacher.

Police were called to Riverside Elementary School after someone complained about a woman impersonating a substitute. It was later found out that the 24-year-old suspect from the Flint area was filling in for her mother, 44, who had a prior appointment she didn't want to miss.

While investigators were speaking with another family member of the suspect at the police department they noticed another female matching the description of the suspect's mother in a vehicle parked in the police department's parking lot.

Investigators confronted the woman who identified herself as the suspect's mother. She was escorted into the police department and interviewed by investigators.

Both the mother and daughter told investigators the reason for making the switch was for the money. Both are now in jail. Oakland County prosecutors will determine if any charges will be filed.
