Uber To Deliver Paczki On Fat Tuesday

By Edward Cardenas

SOUTHFIELD (CBS Detroit) - Metro Detroiters looking to avoid the lines at local bakeries on Fat Tuesday can order their paczki on-demand from Uber.

The on-demand car service is branching out into pastry delivery for one-day only to bring the pre-lent, fried, Polish treat to customers.

"Why wait in line for hours or risk getting hit with a sold-out sign," Uber asked in a release. "Simply tap your Uber app and have delicious fried and filled pastries delivered in minutes."

This is the latest unique promotion offered by Uber. This past summer the company offered ice cream on demand, and during the North American International Auto Show, free rides were offered around downtown Detroit in new Cadillacs.

For the Fat Tuesday promotion, Uber has teamed up with West Warren Bakery in Detroit to delivery paczki throughout Detroit starting at 7 a.m. Tuesday.

Users can open their Uber app and request the "PACZKI" option. For $25 customers will receive a dozen paczki and Mardi Gras swag delivered to their door.

And similar to the service's car rides, no cash is needed and the card on the customer's Uber account will be charged.

The paczki will be available while supplies last.
