Application Period Begins For 21 Detroit Public Schools

DETROIT (AP) - Parents and guardians can begin applying to have their children attend designated Detroit Public Schools application schools during the 2015-16 academic year.

The district says the application period runs from Monday through March 16 for 21 schools and programs.

Applications can be made at the individual buildings. The schools include Ben Carson High School of Science and Medicine, Academy of the Americas, Mark Twain School for Scholars, and the Edward "Duke" Ellington Conservatory of Music and Art.

After-school enrollment fairs will be held Wednesday and March 11 at the 21 schools.

Application packets can be found on the district's website. The district says applications are open to its current students, those who are starting school, and those who now attend school outside the district.
