'Families Against Narcotics' Looks To Give Hope To Those With Drug Addictions

WARREN (WWJ) -- Families Against Narcotics is doing its best to put an end to drug addiction and overdose, which it will continue aiming to do with an event this week.

Executive Director Andrew Fortunato says FAN was life-changing for him and knows it can have the same effect on others.

"When I got to Families Against Narcotics and I was able to sit down at that first meeting -- it was an experience unlike I've ever had in my life," Fortunato said. "Not only were they not pointing fingers at anybody, but they were learning from each other."

Fortunato said that plenty of different professionals will be on hand at The Project Macomb workshop.

"There's going to be a lot of superintendents there, there's going to be community mental health agencies, hospitals, insurance companies and we're going to talk about more innovative care," Fortunato said.

The event will be held on Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Macomb Community College South Campus at the John Lewis Center. To register and learn more about the event you can visit familiesagainstnarcotics.org.
