Large Pothole On Mound Road In Macomb Takes Out Several Car Tires
MACOMB (WWJ) - At least a half dozen cars fell victim to the chuckholes along the left lane of southbound Mound between Ten Mile and Nine Mile roads Monday morning.
Besides waiting for towing Christina Johnson had to find a substitute teacher for her classroom at the school where she teaches in Ecorse reports Ron Dewey.
"It's frustrating. I drive a long way to get to work - to hit a pot hole - I can't afford to pay for repairs on a car, I mean it's getting ridiculous," she said.
Road service crews helped several other stranded motorists change flattened tires.
While the issue of repairs come with some political contention:
Macomb County Executive's reacted to claims by Warren's mayor that it's the county's responsibility to repair the roads.
"Public officials have, in my opinion, no right to be pointing fingers or placing blame," said Hackle. "They have, right now, a responsibility to be part of the solution - asking how do we get the proper amount of funding for our roads?"
Craig Bryson of the Road Commission in Oakland County says 2015 looks like another bad year for the roads.
"We expect it will be at least as bad as last year," said Bryson.
Between Inkster and Northwestern Highway as well as just east of Farmington Road, and he mentions that Tienken Road in Rochester Hills between Livernois and Adams is a bad one.
In Macomb County drivers can take immediate action:
"If there is a dangerous, damage causing pothole and there is a call made to a 911 center - if that 911 center calls our department - we will make sure that we send someone sent out within an hour," says Hackle.
There's plenty of cold-patch ready to go to work.
"Our crews are out patrolling, right now we don't really have a big problem - we did have patrols out Saturday trying to get ahead of the game," said Robert Conrad of the Wayne County Road Commission.
Wayne County residents can call 888-ROADCREW to report potholes.
As spring nears and pothole season arrives - there will be a lot more business for tire repair.
Macomb County Road Commission crews were able to fix the problem, but warmer weather is expected to create more pothole troubles.
