Trader Joe's Recalls Cinnamon Almonds That Might Contain Peanuts

DETROIT (WWJ) - Trader Joe's shopper: It's time to check your pantry.

The California-based company is recalling all lot codes of its 16 ounce packages of Trader Joe's Cinnamon Almonds because they may contain undeclared peanuts. People who have allergies to peanuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.

To date, Trader Joe's has received one report of an allergic reaction potentially linked to this product.

The recalled products were distributed nationwide in Trader Joe's retail stores. The product comes in a 16 ounce, clear plastic package marked with UPC # 00761437 on the back of the package.

The recall was initiated after peanuts were discovered in packages of the almonds. Subsequent investigation indicates the problem was caused by a temporary breakdown in the supplier's production and packaging processes. All products have been removed from store shelves and sales have been suspended.

Customers are urged to discard the product or return it to any Trader Joe's for a full refund. Customers with questions should call 626-599-3817.
