DETROIT (AP) – A Detroit mail carrier who shopped at high-end retailers after stealing checks on her route has been placed on probation.

The government says Dorothy Rogers deposited 12 checks worth $16,220 in her account, mostly through her phone. Two other checks weren’t deposited. The money apparently wasn’t for the basics of life.
