Sweet! Michigan Senate Passes Bill Allowing Bake Sales As School Fundraisers

LANSING (WWJ) - It's legislation for those with a sweet tooth.

The Michigan Senate has passed a bill allowing up to three fundraising bake sales in public schools per week.

House Republican Aaron Miller of Sturgis has introduced a similar bill.

"Should they be able to run a bake sale, with baked goods to fundraise for their organization? The common sense answer is, absolutely, they should," he said.

This would provide a way around federal health standards which have banned them.
