Southfield Man Accidentally Shot 13-Year-Old Daughter, Police Say

SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) - A 13-year-old girl is hospitalized after Southfield police say her father accidentally shot her in the leg Wednesday morning.

According to Southfield Police Lt. Nick Loussia, the teen's dad was putting the weapon away, at the family's home — on Lake Ravines Drive north of 9 Mile Road — when it discharged.

Loussia told WWJ Newsradio 950 that the father is cooperating with investigators and that his story matches what the daughter told police.

The teen was last reported in stable condition, recovering at Bosford Hospital in West Bloomfield.

It's not clear what charges, if any, the father might face.

No names have been released.
