YogaMedics Designed To Help Those Sidelined With Pain

DETROIT (CBS DETROIT) - A special type of yoga is helping people who are sidelined with pain.

It's called YogaMedics. A therapeutic yoga class where trained specialists follow a program designed by a team of health experts including doctors, physical therapists and psychologists reports WWJ's Health Reporter Dr. Deanna Lites.

Sarah Fink Carlin is with YogaMedics at Citizen Yoga in Royal Oak.

Carlin says Yoga Medics targets all types of ailments.

"People who have specific medical conditions, chronic pain, back issues, amputees, traumatic brain injuries, even down to your own knee or hip problem," said Carlin.

YogaMedics works to achieve wellness by connecting your breath, mind and body.

"We're teaching them to use breathing techniques and mind-body connection to visualize where pain is occurring to relax and change the neurological pathway that is causing the pain."
