DETROIT (WWJ) - Authorities are hoping a cash reward will help catch a suspected serial rapist in Detroit.

Crime Stoppers of Michigan is now offering a $1,000 for information leading to the arrest of a man believed to be responsible for at least two sexual assaults in recent weeks.

In one case, police say, the man abducted a mother of seven at gunpoint as she was entering her west side Detroit home on Tuesday, March 24.

Then, early Easter Sunday morning, police say a man fitting the same description abducted and raped an 18-year-old woman as she was getting into her car in the 7 Mile Road/Livernois area.

There have been at least three additional similar assaults, but investigators are not sure yet if they are connected.

The attacks have prompted community groups to go door-to-door alerting residents and handing out a sketch of the suspect, warning women to be on alert when out alone.

The suspect is described as a black male, around 5 feet, 10 inches to 6 feet tall with a stocky build and a light to medium complexion. He was clean-shaven, wearing a black knit hat, a black hoodie, a black mask with a zipper and faded jeans. He was armed with a black long-barrel revolver.

Anyone who may recognize the suspect in the sketch or has any information pertaining about these crimes is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK UP. As always, all Crime Stoppers tips and rewards are completely anonymous.
