Crash Involving DDOT Bus Leaves 5 Injured; 1 In Critical Condition

DETROIT (WWJ) -- A crash involving a Detroit Department of Transportation bus on the city's west side left several motorists injured Friday night.

The crash happened Friday evening at Dexter Avenue and Joy Road. Police say a 24-year-old woman driving a Ford Taurus was traveling north on Dexter when she sideswiped a Dodge Nitro driven by a 29-year-old woman.

The driver of the Taurus continued down Dexter at a high rate of speed, with the other woman pursuing her. The Taurus then crashed into the D-DOT bus, followed by the Nitro crashing into the Taurus, which caught fire.

Five people -- including 2 bus passengers -- were injured. There were 20 passengers on the bus. The driver of the Taurus was listed in critical condition

The investigation is ongoing.
