“What we believe is that the city has what they call pressure reducing valves and we believe one of them may have malfunctioned, causing the break,” Gaworecki said.

The boil water alert is scheduled to last until Saturday. Gaworecki said that some people have low or no water pressure due to the break.

“Once it’s repaired and back up to pressure, we have to take water samples just to make sure that they’re clean,” Gaworecki said.
