Is the egg on Lidström’s face as this oddly extreme Swedish ad gets shared all over the Internet?

A YouTube commercial by Kronägg Active, a Swedish egg company, features Detroit Red Wings legend and defenceman Nicklas Lidström shooting an egg into the goal to demonstrate the health benefits of a diet including the company’s eggs. The description of the video translates roughly to “What will you do with yours?”

Slack-jawed kids, pulse-pounding electronic music and a somewhat impressive egg effects shot will possibly get you very amped up about eggs. Lidström’s rips the egg with a slopshot. It rifles through the air like a bullet from “The Matrix” into the back of the goal and rolls out unbroken.

Those are some strong eggs. If you’ve got those perfect hands like Lidström maybe you can pull this off without movie magic. You may remember a classic scene from “The Mighty Ducks” when the players learn soft hands and puck handling skills by passing eggs back and forth and it didn’t go well.

Lidstrom was also featured on the packaging which features a series of Swedish athletes.

The production level of the ad is worth the price of admission, but as a bonus you’ll hear Lidström speaking Swedish which if you’ve never heard it before it’s a trip.
