Authorities: Missing 4-Month-Old Girl Found Dead In Basement

WHITE CLOUD, Mich. (WWJ/AP) - Authorities say the body a 4-month-old girl who had been missing for several days has been found.

The child's grandmother Heidi Thill told reporters late Tuesday that authorities found the body of Natallya Rich in the basement of her home in White Cloud.

Newaygo County Prosecutor Robert Springstead said it's "too early to tell" whether foul play was involved in Natallya's death or if any charges will be issued.

Authorities say they're awaiting autopsy results to determine when and how the baby died.

Natallya lived at the home with her parents and grandmother.

Thill contacted police early Tuesday after Natallya wasn't returned home. The baby's father reportedly told family members he left the child in the care of a babysitter on Saturday, but the babysitter said she never saw Natallya.

After a widespread search, the child's 27-year-old father and 25-year-old mother were located by investigators in Big Rapids Tuesday night and were taken into custody for questioning. About an hour later, police showed up at Thill's home with a search warrant. Shortly thereafter, the baby's body was discovered.
