First Responders Drive The Message Home On Dangers Of Being Distracted Behind The Wheel

ALLEN PARK (WWJ) - Emergency responders reported to Allen Park High School -- looking to deliver a message ahead of prom and graduation season.

Student Demo 3 (JHewett)An hour-long presentation to students highlighting the dangers of distracted driving filled the football field at the high school Thursday.

Students witnessed what was essentially a training session for first responders - using the jaws of life to pry victims bodies -- in this scene -- student actors out of the wreckage of three damaged vehicles positioned in the middle of the football field.Student Demo (4) JHewett

"The actors that we've selected," said Principal Janet Wasko "are very well known students in our school. We decided, this time, not to do the drinking and driving - instead it's texting."

Junior Cory Kaprevah says the message was received -- "we go to school one day and the next day they are not there."
