Young Boy Hit While Crossing Middlebelt Road In Farmington Hills

FARMINGTON HILLS (WWJ) - A young boy was hit by a car after reportedly darting into traffic at a busy intersection in Farmington Hills.

Sherman Taylor of Farmington Hills witnessed the accident from the Speedy Gas Station at the intersection of Middlebelt and Ten Mile roads.

Taylor tells WWJ's Stephanie Davis that he saw three young boys around the age of 11 or 12 standing at the corner waiting to cross Middlebelt.

"And then all of the sudden - the little kid just dashed out into the traffic and the next thing I know - I looked up and the kid was in the air ... the lady that hit him -- I don't think she could have stopped," said Taylor.

Taylor says he stayed with the child, who was conscious and able to move his hands and legs, until EMS arrived.

"He was alert when I went over there -- he was alert and I didn't see any blood or anything like that. I was just concerned because I didn't know if his head hit the ground ... but by the time the paramedics came he was moving all of his extremities," added Taylor.

The boy was taken to Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak - his condition has not been released.

The driver did stop after hitting the boy and is said to be cooperating with police.
