1 Hurt In Accident Involving Romulus School Bus

ROMULUS (WWJ) - There were no students on board, but one person was injured in an accident involving a school bus in Romulus.

Romulus Deputy Fire Chief Kevin Krause told Newsradio 950 the crash happened at around 3:30 p.m. Monday at the intersection of Merriman and Beverly roads.

As an investigation continues, officials said it's unclear who was at fault.

Gary Banas, Director of Human Resources with Romulus Community Schools, said they were relieved to learn there were no critical injuries.

"We are happy to report there were no children on the bus," Banas said. "The driver of the car did have to be transported to the hospital, but it was communicated to us that he does not have life-threatening injuries...and the bus driver is perfectly fine."

Banas said the district hopes the driver of the vehicle makes a speedy recovery.

In the meantime, he said, school officials are waiting to hear about the extent of the damage done to the bus.
