Red Wings Agree To Terms With Dylan Larkin

DETROIT – The Detroit Red Wings today announced that they have agreed to terms with center Dylan Larkin on a three-year entry-level contract. In accordance with club policy, additional details will not be disclosed.  

Larkin was Detroit's top choice in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, selected by the Red Wings with the 15th pick of the first round. The Waterford, Mich., native spent the 2014-15 season with the Big Ten's Michigan Wolverines, ranking among team leaders with 15 goals (2nd), 32 assists (T1st), 47 points (2nd), a plus-18 rating (T2nd) and 151 shots (1st). He ranked 11th in the nation in scoring and was second among freshmen, behind Boston University's Jack Eichel, earning national recognition as an a Second Team All-American and within the conference as Big Ten Freshman of the Year, First Team All-Big Ten and All-Big Ten Rookie Team.

The 18-year-old also represented the United States at the 2015 World Junior Championship in Toronto and Montreal and with the men's national team at the 2015 World Championship in Prague, Czech Republic. At the WJC, he led his country with seven points (5-2-7) in five games, tying for the tournament lead in goals. With the men's national team, he skated in all 10 games and helped the U.S. capture the bronze medal as the second-youngest member of the team.

Prior to his time at the University of Michigan, Larkin spent two seasons with the U.S. National Development Team in Ann Arbor, Mich., ranking second on the team in 2013-14 with 56 points (31-25-56) in 60 games. He also served as an alternate captain as the United States won gold at the 2014 Under-18 World Championship, tallying four points (2-2-4) in six contests.

Larkin has also signed an amateur tryout with the AHL's Grand Rapids Griffins and will be available this weekend as the team travels to take on the top-seeded Utica Comets for Games 1 and 2 of the Western Conference Finals on Sunday and Monday at 7 p.m. at the Utica Memorial Auditorium. The best-of-seven series will return to Grand Rapids starting next Thursday, May 28, at 7 p.m.
