DETROIT (WWJ) – Police in Detroit have arrested a 22-year-old man in connection with two carjackings and an armed robbery which took place in Detroit.
James Meeks was arraigned Wednesday on carjacking, robbery, felony firearm and CCW charges.
According to investigators Meeks robbed the Fast Track Gas Station on East Seven Mile road in Detroit on Monday escaping in a Mercury Mountaineer.
Within hours of the robbery, officers responded to two carjacking incidents that occurred within twenty minutes apart on Detroit’s east side.
The first incident took place at 5:30 a.m. at a Sunoco Gas Station on East Seven Mile Road. During this incident a 2000 gray Crown Victoria was taken from a 26 year-old male victim.
The second incident occurred at 5:50 a.m. on Van Dyke where the 34 year-old male victim was carjacked and robbed along with his passengers, 18 year-old female and a 25 year-old male.
The vehicle taken from the second incident was a 2005 black Dodge Durango which was later recovered.
