Virgin Atlantic Brings 'Motown' To the Skies (Video)

ROMULUS (CBS Detroit) - Passengers on the dignitary-filled Virgin Atlantic flight Thursday from London Heathrow to Detroit Metropolitan Airport were treated to a taste of "Motown" during the eight-hour trans-Atlantic journey.

Flight VS 107 carried Virgin Atlantic founder Sir Richard Branson and others to celebrate the start of the new non-stop service between London and Detroit.

As the Boeing 787-9 crossed the Atlantic, cast of "Motown: The Musical," treated passengers to an impromptu performance of songs from the show which will open in London next year.

In addition to promoting the service, Sir Richard will host a pitch event at the College for Creative Studies.

"Detroit hustles harder than anywhere else and it's the hard work of the local entrepreneurs that will help keep the city on the road to recovery," Branson wrote in a blog about his visit to Detroit.
