DETROIT (CBS Detroit) – Emoji have become a popular way to express emotions by smart phone users and those posting updates on social media, and now Chevrolet has utilized the picture messages in a press release.
The car company released an all-emoji press release Monday to celebrate the upcoming reveal of the new 2016 Chevrolet Cruze.
Chevrolet asked social media users to decode the news release and Tweet their responses to #ChevyGoesEmoji. For those who are stumped, Chevrolet will offer a decoder at 2 p.m. Tuesday.
There is also an online ad campaign featuring Norm MacDonald and chronicling his journey through the “Emoji Academy” as he tries to learn to decipher the emoji.
The press release precedes the reveal of the next-generation Chevrolet Cruze, which is the brand’s best-selling car around the world with more than 3.5 million vehicles sold.
According to Chevrolet, it will be larger and lighter than the current model and will feature new technologies including the Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
