3 Men Charged In Fight, Shooting Outside Kevin Hart Show At Palace Of Auburn Hills

AUBURN HILLS (WWJ) - Three men are facing charges in connection with fight than ended with shots fired outside of the Palace of Auburn Hills during a performance by comedian Kevin Hart.

The Oakland County Prosecutor's Office on Tuesday announced charges against 32-year-old Demarius Clark, of Detroit, 30-year-old Darnell Milton, of Harper Woods, and 33-year-old Davon Stephens, of Roseville. All three are charged with assault with intent to do great bodily harm, with an alternate charge of aggravated assault. Stephens was also charged with larceny of a firearm.

The shooting took place just after 12 a.m. on May 17, prior to Kevin Hart's second performance. Investigators say an off-duty Detroit police officer was in the parking lot attempting to change a flat tire in a parking space when a second vehicle pulled up and attempted to park next to the officer.

What started as a verbal dispute turned into a physical altercation when passengers in the second vehicle -- including Clark, Milton and Stephens -- exited their car, police said. During the altercation the 26-year-old officer fired a personal weapon, striking two people. Both were taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The officer, who sustained head injuries in the attack, was not charged in the incident.

The case was investigated by the Auburn Hills Police Department with the assistance from the Major Case Assistance Team, made up of investigators from the Auburn Hills, Bloomfield Township, Bloomfield Hills, Clawson, Troy and Rochester police departments, along with the county sheriff's office.

If convicted as charged, the trio faces 10 years in jail and fines up to $5,000.
