Comcast Teams Up With The Pistons To Distribute Team Shows

By Edward Cardenas

AUBURN HILLS (CBS Detroit) - Palace Sports and Entertainment and the Detroit Pistons announced Wednesday a partnership with Comcast to distribute non-game content over multiple platforms.

More than 1 million XFINITY subscribers in Michigan will be able to see "The Courtside Show," a weekly sports/talk and call-in program with Mark Champion and Rick Mahorn, that will be broadcast live on Comcast CN900 starting Saturday. The show airs live every Saturday from 11 a.m. to noon.

"We are pleased to partner with Comcast in a way that utilizes their vast distribution capability as a way to share Detroit Pistons content with our fans and complement what we distribute digitally on Pistons.com and FSD.com," said Charlie Metzger, Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer for the Detroit Pistons, in a release. "We look forward to the live broadcasts of our weekly radio program "The Courtside Show" and additional video-on-demand placement for our Pistons Programming Network features."

Comcast will also host a variety of Pistons video content on XFINITY's Get Local Video-on-Demand platform including player profile features and behind-the-scenes footage, news and information along with Pistons' outreach efforts in the community.

"From Comcast's perspective, a broadcast partnership with the Palace and the Detroit Pistons is long overdue," says Bill Harder, Senior Manager of local programming for Comcast in Michigan. "The content they produce is the best in the industry, and to be an outlet for this excellent programming is great for both the Pistons and our subscribers."
