Pedestrian Hospitalized After Being Struck By DDOT Bus

DETROIT (WWJ) - Officials say a pedestrian is hospitalized after being struck by a Detroit Department of Transportation bus.

The accident happened around 7:45 a.m. Wednesday at Clifford and Middle streets, near Cass and Adams avenues just west of Grand Circus Park.

Officials say the female bus driver was making a left turn from Clifford onto Middle Street when the bus struck a male pedestrian.

The 50-year-old man was conscious when taken away from the scene by an ambulance and was last reported in stable condition at the hospital. The severity of his injuries is unknown.

No passengers were injured.

DDOT officials will be looking at video from the bus and giving the driver, who was questioned at the scene, a drug test.

Police say a preliminary investigation indicates the pedestrian was at fault.

An investigation is ongoing.
