Beer Festival Gets Frothy In Ypsilanti's Riverside Park This Weekend

YPSILANTI (WWJ) - Calling it a celebration of Michigan beers and Michigan breweries, Eric Briggeman president of the Michigan Brewer's Guild, says the annual event has grown every year.

The 18th annual Beer Festival kicks off this weekend in Ypsilanti Riverside Park in the historic Depot Town.

"Eighteen years ago - we had about 30 - 35 breweries and 80 different beers at the first beer festival and this year we have 103 breweries and just under a 1,000 beers to choose from," says Briggeman.

Organizers of the event are advising those driving to the festival, to consider bringing a designated driver -- and they'll be given a special ticket price.

You can't have craft beer without paring it with food and music! Planners say the festival takes place rain or shine -- you can take a look at the weather forecast before you go.
