Many Predict Price Will Leave Tigers, One Site Believes He Could Get $200M

DETROIT (CBS Detroit) As SB Nation reports that "everybody" wants the Tigers' David Price, a FOX Sports writer is saying unequivocally he won't be back with the Detroit next season.

Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal says he's basically already gone. As proof, he says the Tigers are not engaging aren't even engaging in serious talks with Price

"The contract that Price will command is beyond the Tigers' comfort level, and the two sides have not engaged in serious talks, major-league sources say," Rosenthal writes. "The Tigers evidently fear that they will fare no better with Price than they did with right-hander Max Scherzer, who rejected the team's $144 million offer in the spring of 2014, then signed a seven-year, $210 million free-agent contract with the Nationals."

Would he, could he, leave Detroit?

"If they do decide to sell, though, there will be no lack of suitors for the pitcher who just might be this winter's Max Scherzer, a free agent capable of pulling in over $200 million," SB Nation reports.

Who would pay that?

SB Nation appears to be putting their money on the Cubs.

"The Cubs, if they are willing to, certainly have the young pieces to acquire him," SB Nation writes.
