DETROIT (WWJ) - A third man wanted in connection with two robberies and sexual assaults on Detroit's west side has turned himself in to police -- but insists he had nothing to do with the crimes.

Chico Bruce, 22, turned himself in Monday evening after authorities publicly identified him as a suspect in the attack, which happened July 16 in the area of West McNichols and Birwood Street, just blocks away from Marygrove College.

According to police, the 22-year-old man and his 21-year-old girlfriend were walking along McNichols around 10 p.m. when they were approached by a group of six men. The men reportedly forced the couple behind a nearby business where they were robbed and stripped of their clothes.

Members of the group took then turns sexually assaulting the woman, police said, and when the attack was over, the nude victims ran to a liquor store for help.

The disturbing attack is similar, police said, to another later that same night in area of McNichols and Pierson Street — not far from the new Meijer store — and investigators believe the two crimes may be connected. [See suspect sketches, HERE]

Bruce claims he wasn't involved in the crime and he doesn't belong to any gang. He could be charged as early as Tuesday.

Antoine Edward-Ikie Orr, 18, and Jordan Alexander Reese, 17, are facing charges of criminal sexual conduct in the case and are being held on $250,000 cash bonds.

Three other attackers are also being sought.

Anyone with information is urged to contact police at 313-596-1950 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
