Police Investigate Inmate's Death At Ypsilanti Women's Prison

YPSILANTI (WWJ/AP) - Police are investigating the death of a 25-year-old inmate at the Women's Huron Valley Correctional Facility in Ypsilanti.

Kayla Renea Miller was found dead on July 16, according to Michigan Department of Corrections spokesman Chris Gautz. Authorities haven't given a cause of death, but Gautz previously said it's being investigated as possibly drug related, The Ann Arbor News reported.

Michigan State Police public affairs manager Shanon Banner said authorities are waiting for toxicology and autopsy reports in Miller's death before making a formal statement.

Miller was serving in time on charges of larceny in a building and uttering and publishing. Both crimes occurred in June 2014 in southwest Michigan's Berrien County.
