At Least 2 Injured In Multi-Vehicle Accident In Wayne

WAYNE (WWJ) - A minimum of two people were injured in a serious accident, Wednesday afternoon, involving several vehicles in the city of Wayne.

Witnesses say a driver was involved in a hit and run at Van Born and Middlebelt; and about two miles down — at Van Born and Merriman — she blew through a red light, hitting multiple cars.

Witness Justin Harper said he narrowly avoided the crash.

"She was going north and she just clipped them at 65 miles an hour. I was 65 feet from it when it happened and I had to lock my my brakes; she was right in front of me," Harper said. "Then she just missed one biker — the lady in the white — she just missed her by inches and the car actually hit the other guy on a bike."

Leyona McQuarter also watched the whole thing unfold.

"She was flying!" McQuarter told WWJ Newsradio 950's Vickie Thomas. "...It was crazy! One car did all this."

Numerous police and emergency vehicles were on the scene at 1:30 p.m. as Jaws of Life were used to extract at least one person who was trapped in a damaged car.  A pickup truck was also involved.

The extent of those injuries was not immediately known.

Merriman Road was closed between Annapolis and Van Born for an accident investigation.
