Troy Athens High School Assistant Band Director Arrested On Child Porn Charges

DETROIT (WWJ) - A part-time assistant band director at Troy Athens High School has been arrested on child pornography charges.

The FBI on Monday raided the home of 38-year-old Eric Junod on Deer Valley Road in Holly. According to a nine-page criminal complaint, filed in U.S. District Court in Detroit, agents took his computer, iPhone, and iPad — which contained over 600 images of child porn.

The complaint says Junod, using the screen name "Viper45," was linked to "a community of individuals who regularly send and receive child pornography via a website that operated on an anonymous online network."

Junod allegedly confessed to downloading and sharing child porn, being sexually attracted to children, and to inappropriately touching a 1-year-old girl.

School district spokeswoman Kerry Birmingham says Junod, who helped with the school's marching band program, was fired on Monday.

She added that police have said "there is no indication any Troy School District students were involved in any way."

Junod, who made a brief court appearance on Tuesday, will remain held pending a hearing set for 1 p.m. Wednesday.
