Man Shot In Groin Over Bag Of Potato Chips In Detroit

DETROIT (CBS Detroit) Holding only a bag of potato chips, a 59-year-old man was robbed by a young man who shot him in the groin Tuesday night, police said.

It happened at 9:30 p.m. outside McDonalds on Conant Street, near 8 Mile and Dequindre.

The man was rushed to Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, where he's listed in stable condition.

"The man said he was walking down the street when the suspect approached him and snatched his potato chips," a police spokeswoman said. "The victim said 'Give me my chips.' The suspect produced a weapon, shot him and fled the scene."

The victim apparently got a good look at the perpetrator, who reportedly left with the chips.

The suspect is described as 19 years old, 5 foot 6 inches tall, weighing 130 pounds, with a dark complexion. He was last seen wearing a black baseball cap, black short sleeved shirt and black jeans, armed with a handgun.
