36th District Court In Detroit Evacuated Due To Bomb Threat
DETROIT (WWJ) - 36th District Court in Detroit was evacuated late Thursday morning after the court received a bomb threat.
Police had Madison Street shut down at Randolph and an entire square block around the building closed to traffic after the threatening call came in around 11:10 a.m.
"I was actually in the middle of a trial when the alarms when off and they did an evacuation; we all had to take the stairway," said one officer, who didn't want to give his name. "Very calm, very organized."
After noon, a K-9 team was still inside, sniffing around for explosives.
Reporting from the scene, WWJ's Laura Bonnell said a few attorneys found spots to sit in the shade outside, hoping the investigation wouldn't take long.
No injuries have been reported and it was not immediately clear if anything suspicious was found.
The court reopened shortly before 1 p.m.
There have been no arrests as an investigation continues.
