Passersby Shot In Detroit After Apparent Facebook Feud Turns Into Brawl

DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit police are investigating a brawl apparently fueled by Facebook comments, that left two passersby with gunshot wounds.

The incident happened around 8 p.m. Tuesday on Fairmount Drive, in a neighborhood along Gratiot Avenue just south of 8 Mile Road.

Investigators say two groups of high school students initially got into an argument online -- with one group deciding to seek the other out in person.

As the confrontation unfolded on the city's east side, police say two men in their 20s who weren't part of the Facebook feud were shot. Both men were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening gunshot wounds. Their current conditions are unknown, but both are expected to recover.

Police are searching for the gunman but did not immediately release a physical description.

Anyone with information on the incident is urged to contact police at 313-267-4600.
