Seahawks' Michael Bennett Blames Matthew Stafford For Being From Dallas Where 'They Killed The President'

The Detroit Lions lost a heart breaker to the Seattle Seahawks Monday night. It's a game that will live in infamy. Not grassy knoll infamy, more like sports infamy, which doesn't change the course of the world.

The long and short of it is that Calvin Johnson fumbled the ball out of the back of the end zone, it was batted away, the referee's play call was bad, and people are now referring to it as Batgate.

That's not what this blog is about, though.

After the game, Seahawks' DL Michael Bennett had some interesting comments about Lions' QB Matthew Stafford.

According to Curtis Crabtree of Sports Radio KJR, he said:

"I don't like Matt Stafford much. He's from Dallas. They killed the President (JFK). ... I hold it against him."

Bennett grew up in Houston and went to college at Texas A&M, which is in College Park, Texas. This is a weird comment on the face of it, but it's especially strange coming from a guy who grew up in Texas.

He was probably trying to make a joke, but after a game like the one we just experienced it fell flat.

One person on Twitter called it the "dumbest thing ever said."

What do you make of it?
