GAINES TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP/WWJ) – A gas station customer rewards card helped authorities identify a man’s skeletal remains found in a wooded area near a popular trail in western Michigan.

WOOD-TV and WZZM-TV report that a Speedway card was found at the scene in Gaines Township, south of Grand Rapids.

The Kent County sheriff’s department says a tip on the remains came in Sunday afternoon, just north of M-6 and west of Eastern Avenue SE, near the Fred Meijer M-6 trail.

Authorities said that while there were no signs of trauma, they’re not ruling out anything — including foul play. An autopsy was inconclusive and toxicology test will be done to help determine how the man died.
