Motorcyclist Found Dead 'Hours' After Crashing On I-75 Exit Ramp

LaSALLE TWP. (WWJ) - A 49-year-old man was killed in a motorcycle accident in Monroe County, but police say it was hours before anyone knew about the crash.

The sheriff's department said Kenneth Drewior Jr., of South Rockwood, crashed on the exit ramp from northbound I-75 to South Otter Creek Road in LaSalle Township.

The crash happened sometime late Wednesday but it wasn't discovered until around 1:50 a.m. Thursday, when a passing motorist called police to report seeing a crashed motorcycle headlight in a ditch. Police responded to the scene and found Drewior dead.

According to the sheriff's department, a preliminary investigation revealed that Drewior was driving a 2007 Harley-Davidson motorcycle along the exit ramp when for unknown reasons he lost control of his bike, which traveled off the west shoulder of the freeway ramp, entered a small ditch and overturned. Drewior, who was not wearing a helmet, was thrown from his motorcycle.

Police say information collected at the crash scene indicates that the accident may have occurred "hours " before it was discovered.

Neither speed nor alcohol appear to be factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.

Anyone with information is urged to contact police at 734-240-7715.
