It's Been A Year: Search Continues For Suspect In Chelsea Bruck's Death

MONROE, Mich. (WWJ/AP) - Authorities are still searching for a suspect in the death of a 22-year-old Michigan woman whose remains were found six months after she disappeared from a Halloween party.

Monday marks the one-year anniversary of Maybee resident Chelsea Bruck's disappearance Oct. 26, 2014 from a large party in Frenchtown Township. Her costume was found April 5 at an abandoned industrial site in Flat Rock and her remains were found in a grave April 24 on a wooded lot in Ash Township.

Monroe County Sheriff Dale Malone tells the Monroe News  that Bruck's disappearance and death remain an active criminal investigation.

More than 900 tips have been received and nearly 800 interviews have been conducted, but no arrests have been made in the case.

In April, authorities announced that the remains found Friday in Ash Township did in fact belong to Bruck, who has been missing since October 2014.

"Today at approximately 4 p.m., we received confirmation from the Wayne County Medical Examiner's Office that the body was in fact that of Chelsea Bruck," Monroe County Sheriff Dale Malone said during the press conference.

"Over the past few months, detectives have gathered evidence from several locations both in and out of the county of Monroe," Malone said. "Evidence was also recovered at the scene yesterday.

"Each time we've received information — how small it was — we went out and we searched those areas," Malone continued, "The family — we've kept them in the loop all along. They've instructed their people on where to search as well."

Over the course of the investigation, 34 search warrants and 14 subpoenas have been served.

Police released a sketch of a person of interest in Bruck's disappearance.
